Ten Lighthouse Cruise (Lighthouse Lovers Cruise)

Lighthouse Lovers Cruise
Lighthouses were built to be seen from the sea and Maine Maritime Museum offers you the chance to see ten of Maine’s finest lighthouses the way they were meant to be seen!
On this cruise you will see all the lighthouses along the Kennebec Historic Waterway and through Boothbay Harbor. Keep your camera ready to see:
•Doubling Point Lighthouse-Built in 1898, it is a white octagonal tower placed on the upper end of Fiddler’s Reach.
•Kennebec Range Lights-A unique set of two beacon towers designed to help ships maneuver through a difficult bend of the river. Ask our Captain to show you how they work!
•Squirrel Point Lighthouse-A small, white wooden tower with a small room and attached walkway. Built in 1898.
•Perkins Island Lighthouse-A white, wooden octagonal tower, with the keeper’s house, barn and stone bell tower.
•Pond Island Lighthouse-A white conical tower near the mouth of the Kennebec River. No other buildings remain on Pond Island.
•Seguin Island Lighthouse-Located two miles south of the mouth of the Kennebec River. The tower is only 53 feet tall and has one of the most powerful foghorns made.
•The Cuckolds Lighthouse-Originally only a fog signal, the light protects the heavy boat traffic into Boothbay Harbor
•Ram Island Lighthouse-This lighthouse marks Fisherman Island Passage.
•Burnt Island Lighthouse-Situated one mile outside of Boothbay Harbor, this lighthouse is now a Maine state-owned educational facility. See our Beacons of Boothbay cruise for a chance to explore the island!
•Hendricks Head Lighthouse-Now privately owned, this lighthouse is on the Sheepscot River in Southport.
This cruise is 3.5 hours long. Passengers will remain on the boat for the length of the cruise. The Sagadahoc's professionally trained crew provides fascinating narration and a safe, comfortable cruise. Food and beverages are available for purchase onboard. Guests are welcome to bring aboard a picnic, but coolers are not allowed. Due to Maine liquor laws, guests may not bring alcohol onboard, but beer and wine are available for purchase.

Explore Maine's lighthouses by sea! Travel the winding Sasanoa River through Hells Gates into the serene Hockomock Bay to the mouth of the Sheepscot River, cruising past Hendricks Head Light. Cruise the Kennebec River with its six lighthouses. See Eagles & Seals too!

Great Ships and Lighthouses
Cruise upriver past the beautiful 20 acre waterfront campus of the Museum and the historic buildings of its Percy and Small Shipyard.
•See the massive sculptural evocation of the Wyoming, the largest commercial wooden sailing vessel ever built, sitting where it was constructed and launched in 1909.
•Cruise past Bath Iron Works, building the most technologically advanced warships for the US Navy.
•Approach the lovely waterfront of Bath, the City of Ships - cruising downriver you will enjoy the 400 years of shipbuilding history on the river the Abanaki Indians called “long quiet waters.”
•Lighthouse lovers will delight at up close views of Doubling Point Lighthouse and the Kennebec Range Lights.
•Savor the natural beauty of Maine's coastline and be sure to watch for bald eagles, osprey, seals and flying sturgeon.

Beacons of Boothbay Cruise
Explore Maine's Lighthouses by land and sea! Travel the winding Sasanoa River to Boothbay Harbor with wonderful views of the four lighthouses of the Boothbay Region:

Then, stop to explore Burnt Island and its lighthouse and meet Keeper Joseph Muise and his family who will acquaint you with lighthouse living as it was in the 1950's.
While on the island you can visit the keeper's home and climb the spiral staircase into the lantern room to enjoy spectacular views of Boothbay Harbor, or take a picturesque hike around the 5-acre island.
The Secret Kennebec Cruise (Wildlife)

The Secret Kennebec Cruise
Though traveled for thousands of years, the shores of the Kennebec River remain largely unsettled. The Kennebec River region is home to the second largest concentration of waterfowl along the eastern US, withle the large runs of migratory fish make this a favorite feeding ground for seals and an ideal habitat for eagles and opprey. You never know what you'll see in the waters or along the shores of the Kennebec River.

The Extraordinary Wildlife of Merrymeeting Bay Cruise
Offered MONDAYS -
Six rivers converge at Merrymeeting Bay to create a truly unique and rare ecosystem: the breeding ground of osprey and bald eagles and home to Atlantic sturgeon and harbor seals. Narration is provided by members of local environmental organizations who share their knowledge of the wildlife, ecological vitality and the challenges now facing this unique place. Be sure to bring a camera! This program is make possible thanks to the sponsorship of the Merrymeeting Bay Trust and the collaborative efforts of the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust and the Maine Audubon Society.
